MARINE & SHIP BUILDING

With our extensive range of corrosion-resistant alloys and durable materials, we support the construction, repair and renovation of ships, offshore platforms and marine infrastructure. Whether it’s the hull of a new vessel or the intricate systems that ensure safe and efficient operation, our materials are integral to the longevity and performance of marine assets.

The marine environment is one of the harshest on the planet, with saltwater, humidity and extreme conditions posing significant challenges to materials used in shipbuilding. P&P Bornmore Metals specialises in supplying corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and aluminium alloys, which are vital for the construction and maintenance of marine vessels.

For example, we provided duplex stainless steel bars for the fabrication of hull components in a new luxury yacht. The superior corrosion resistance of duplex stainless steel ensured that the yacht could withstand the constant exposure to saltwater, reducing the risk of degradation over time and maintaining its integrity and appearance.

In another instance, we supplied aluminium alloy sheets for the construction of a high-speed passenger ferry. Aluminium is well-suited for the marine industry due to its lightweight properties, making it an ideal choice for reducing overall vessel weight while maintaining strength and resistance to corrosion. This application helped improve the ferry’s fuel efficiency without compromising on performance.

Supplying Durable Materials for Marine Infrastructure
In addition to shipbuilding, P&P Bornmore Metals provides materials for marine infrastructure, including ports, harbors and offshore platforms. We supplied stainless steel bars for a project involving the construction of a series of heavy-duty docks for a commercial shipping port. The high strength and corrosion resistance of stainless steel made it the ideal choice for supporting the heavy loads and constant exposure to seawater in such environments.

For offshore platforms, we have worked with fabricators to supply super duplex stainless steel for structural supports. This material was chosen for its strength, resistance to pitting and durability in deep-water environments, where it is essential for ensuring the long-term stability and safety of offshore structures.

Precision Metals for Marine Equipment
Marine equipment must meet exacting standards to ensure the safety and efficiency of vessels. P&P Bornmore Metals has supplied high-quality metal bars for the fabrication of components such as propeller shafts, rudders and engine parts. For a recent project, we provided phosphor bronze bars for the production of propeller bushings. Phosphor bronze is chosen for its excellent wear resistance and ability to withstand high-stress conditions, ensuring smooth and efficient propulsion in vessels operating in demanding marine environments.

We also provided nickel alloys for producing heat exchangers and condenser tubes for large commercial ships. These materials are selected for their ability to withstand both the harsh marine environment and the elevated temperatures of the ship’s cooling systems, ensuring reliable operation and longevity.

The marine and shipbuilding industry operates under strict international standards to ensure safety and reliability. At P&P Bornmore Metals, we understand the importance of meeting these standards, which is why we ensure that all the materials we supply comply with the highest industry specifications. Whether it's materials for hull construction, structural components, or marine equipment, we provide products that are rigorously tested for quality and performance.
